A PVC socket is a type of fitting used in PVC piping systems. It is a female fitting, which means that the fitting has a female thread and/or a smooth inside. The terms socket and sleeve are often used interchangeably, especially when one side has an internal thread and one side is smooth. The easiest thing to do is to look at the dimensions: metric = smooth surface. If G” or R” is stated, the fitting contains thread.

Sockets and sleeves are used to connect pipes together. Fittings without threads must be degreased, sanded and coated with PVC glue (both male and female parts). Excess glue must be removed. Always adhere to the drying time specified by the adhesive manufacturer: usually at least 24 hours. Consult the technical documentation for installation.
